Project 14

What Is A Poster? [Table + Posters]

This table is an interactive poster; users can engage with it in methods besides viewing. It also questions what a poster is by blurring the line between ornamentation and function.

For the table’s surfaces, I created a pattern by repeating the question “What Is Negative Space?” I included “This Is A Poster?” on the table’s face to prompt the viewer to reflect on what they were perceiving. The table’s legs are numbered 1–50 to allude to the second component of this project, which features a set of 50 questions. This set included questions directly related to my design practice and more general ones.

The project is completed with two conventional posters utilizing photographs of the table and my 50 questions. The overall objective of this project was to explore methods of interrogating what design can be.
